Free pop/smtp mailservices

  • http://www.hotpop.com/ -- free pop3-accessible email addresses, mail forwarding, filtering, boxes, smtp access (for sending), etc. (the word "free" was only applied to the pop3-accessible addresses -- I know they charge for some other services)
  • http://www.gmx.net -- German
  • http://www.bigfoot.com -- email forwarding (and other services) -- I'm guessing it's not free, but I didn't really look carefully
  • http://www.virtualave.net -- email forwarding (plus web hosting and other services) -- at least some services, including a 50 MB web site with CGI, are free
  • http://www.iname.com -- free personal email (webmail?)
  • http://www.myrealbox.com -- free, supports POP3,IMAP and Web based mail -- at least one person is using it to avoid the problem of Mandrake not accepting mail if the email source cannot be found in a reverse DNS lookup (or whatever that problem is)

Encrypted pop/smtp Mailservices

  • S-Mail - Secure mail; ; — "Get your FREE secure mailbox" (5 MB), and/or use S-Mail Agent to keep mail secure between you and your mailbox (IIUC)
