Update: I was not aware of the new situation when I added the
UserForm. I have now seen some of the writing about this and have removed the form until I decide where I stand. Please consider me a "no comment" non-player until I make a new statement or revise this topic. I am sad to see it came to this, and I hope it will turn out for the greater good of the users.

Background
I first experienced TWiki at
http://www.oek.dk where a
TWikiWeb was created for pc help and support (now the whole website is TWikified). I think it is a simple yet powerful tool for knowledge sharing. I like the fact that it is so simple to use; so little is required of the users, while still allowing power users to do more.
At work, we started a TWiki-based intranet in early 2002. The intranet is based on the 01December2001 version with a modified
TigerSkin (which is way cool in terms of visual appeal and user friendliness!). We changed several items in the TigerSkin, among others added the
iejs
toolbar and per-web background coloring, plus minor template tweaks. We have now further changed the
TigerSkin to be even more different, and it even includes support for
PersonalizedMenus. I'm developing the skin even further and plan to release it as Tigerskin 2.0 some day in 2003 - see
HobbesSkinDev.
Update 2006: I'm no longer working on HobbesSkin because the new default skin in the Dakar Release (TWiki v4.0) is simply excellent.
Update 2008: I have moved on to other companies in the meantime, leaving a trail of wiki intranets in my wake
I have some material on getting management buy-in and initial user education that has been quite effective but I don't really know where to share it with you guys. Mail me or help me... mostly for the sake of others.
The bottom line for users is my
Rule of thumb: write content in TWiki the same way you would in an e-mail. It really isn't any more complicated, and much of the
WikiSyntax actually fit this rule of thumb. This rule is also a handy way to check new TWiki syntax development; if it doesn't make sense in an e-mail, then the syntax is not good for TWiki.
Personal Preferences (details in TWikiVariables)
- This skin adds a nice formatting toolbar to the edit pages:
- Set EDITBOXWIDTH = 70" style="width:99%
- Set EDITBOXHEIGHT = 35
- Set RELEASEEDITLOCKCHECKBOX = checked="checked"

Welcome to Austria Torben.
Don't let your skin die! Maybe it can live as theme of the
NatSkin.
